For some, it is the outer edge of folly, and for others, it is the transcendent hope of our souls that God came down, appeared, took on flesh, and became one of us. The enchantment of Christmas is the acknowledgment that the “Christ” child is “Immanuel” God with us. (The Day God Lifted the Lid off the Sky)

At the moment of creation, the triune God proclaims, “Let us make male and female in our image and likeness.” In Romans, the apostle Paul highlights the resurrection power, which is the essence of God living in us without beginning and end that gives and sustains our life. It is the eternal hope that God’s plan in becoming a man is at the core of our being and nature.

The Son of Man dying on the cross was the scandal of the ages that revealed the love of God for our fallen race. You and I are members of that troubled race of people that God chose to dwell and shine through for all eternity. If we could only comprehend that we possess the Eternal Presence in our lives, it would change everything. Imagine the radiant glory of a million blazing suns shining through every smile and changing our countenance because we are the race “Immanuel” chose. (The Light of Christ Shines in the Darkness)

God became one of us, and we are the sons and daughters of a heavenly race transformed and restored moment by moment into the image of God.

Scripture: Mathew 1:23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image…and likeness…”
Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
